Black sand beach. This park is located in Waimea, on the ma’kai (towards the ocean) side of Hawaii State Route 50, just west of the Waimea River, which is the historic place where Captain Cook landed, on January 20, 1778 (near the mouth of the Waimea River).
This sand is generally hotter than the white sand. There is nothing insanely special about this beach, other than the black sand.
